Student Life

A structure that allows a child to flourish.

The day runs from 9:00 AM to 1:30 PM, Monday to Friday. It opens with a greeting at the door, gives way to a long and uninterrupted work cycle, moves outdoors, gathers around a freshly prepared meal, and closes calmly with families. The order rarely changes, and children come to rely on it.

The rhythm

From the greeting to the handover.

9:00 AM

Arrival and greeting

Each morning at Ardee Montessori House begins with a warm welcome. The Mentor greets every child by name, creating a gentle bridge between home and the prepared Montessori environment. This unhurried transition helps children feel seen, secure and ready to begin their day.

Health & Wellbeing Check

Following arrival, each child receives a general health check as part of the daily wellbeing routine, helping ensure they are comfortable and ready for the day.

Circle & Outdoor Movement

The community comes together for songs, rhymes, stories and language-rich experiences before moving outdoors. Time outside gives children the opportunity to move freely, explore their surroundings and enjoy time with their peers.

Montessori Work Cycle

The heart of the day is purposeful Montessori work. Children choose activities from the prepared environment according to their interests and readiness. They have time to choose, repeat, concentrate and work at their own pace, building independence through everyday learning.

Snack & Grace and Courtesy

Snack is a calm and social part of the day. Children practise independence, Grace and Courtesy as they manage their belongings, serve themselves where appropriate and care for their space after eating.

Montessori Presentations

New learning is introduced through individual and small-group presentations, offered according to each child’s readiness and developmental needs. Presentations build on existing knowledge and give children opportunities to develop new skills with confidence.

Journal & Emerging Writing

Children engage in purposeful journal work to support their emerging writing skills. Beginning with controlled movements and gradually progressing towards numbers and letters, this work develops pencil control, hand-eye coordination, fine motor skills and confidence in writing.

Grooming, Reflection & Dispersal

As the day comes to a close, children are supported in completing their grooming routine, gathering their belongings and restoring their spaces. These everyday routines help children build independence, order and responsibility.

After 1:30 PM

Optional Enrichment

For children participating in the extended programme, the Montessori day can continue with enrichment experiences such as Art & Design, Music & Movement, Montessori Sports and Literature.

Structure of the Day

A written rhythm for every family.

The Structure of the Day provides children with a sense of security without unnecessary rigidity. Transitions are calm and purposeful, while everyday routines become opportunities to practise independence, Grace and Courtesy, and care for self, others and the environment.

The rhythm varies across our Montessori environments to reflect the developmental needs of different age groups. NIDO follows its own age-appropriate session pattern, while the other Montessori environments follow the timings outlined in the programme structure.

A predictable rhythm gives children the freedom to focus, explore and grow, one purposeful moment at a time.

The parent's day

Connected, without interrupting.

Parents do not need to be in the room to feel connected to their child’s day. Photos, updates and classroom observations are shared through the daily parent communication app, giving families a window into the child’s Montessori experience.

It might be the work they chose, a presentation they received, a new skill they practised or a moment when they helped a friend. These small glimpses help families stay connected to their child’s learning and support a strong relationship between home and the Montessori House.

Before a child joins, and at any time afterwards, families are welcome to tour the House, virtually or in person.

The Ardee Annual Showcase

A Celebration of Learning in Motion.

The Ardee Annual Showcase celebrates a year of learning, bringing together the ideas, discoveries, skills and experiences that have shaped our learners’ journey.

Rooted in our Montessori approach, the Showcase brings together World Study, movement, creativity and sport. Ideas explored throughout the year come alive through performances, demonstrations and shared experiences.

From understanding the world around them to developing physical confidence, children bring together knowledge and movement, curiosity and creativity, individual growth and collective endeavour.

The Showcase is not simply a presentation of what children have learned. It is a chance for families to see how children have grown in confidence, independence, coordination, communication and collaboration, and how they engage with the world around them.

Our learners, alongside their Mentors, prepare with enthusiasm and purpose, bringing their year-long learning together as a shared experience for the wider community.

A culmination of learning. A celebration of growth. A coming together of mind, body and spirit.

Montessori Sports

Movement as intelligence in action.

At Ardee Montessori House, movement is not an activity added to the Montessori day—it is part of the child’s development.

Montessori Sports is designed to help children move with purpose, discover what their bodies can do, and develop confidence through movement. Through age-appropriate activities, children build balance, coordination, strength, spatial awareness and body control while learning to listen, respond and make thoughtful choices.

Games and movement experiences introduce children to rhythm, rules, cooperation and self-regulation. Children learn to take turns, persevere through challenge, work with others and experience both effort and achievement.

The emphasis is not on winning or performance. It is on participation, exploration, practice and personal mastery—helping each child discover that capability grows through repetition, effort and joy.

We move to know ourselves, to connect with others, and to discover what we are capable of becoming.

After-school enrichment

Optional, and unhurried.

Beyond the Montessori day, the Houses offer four strands of after-school enrichment for families who want them.
